Now that I have your attention, this is your warm-up for today:

  1. Read the following information and complete the two questions needed for the scholarship.
  2. Submit your answers/essay to the web-site given. Copy me on your email (cwhillock@irvingisd.net). You will receive credit for this warm-up when I receive your email essay. (a paragraph or two should be fine)
  3. Finally, post them on your wordpress blog site.

Okay, let’s try Chapter 2 again!

There are sample questions to consider in this chapter. Take notes when I get to that section. Post a blog posting on your wordpress site and tell me which of the sample questions you answered “yes” to.  You can find these questions on page 13 of the reading if you’re looking at the pdf file.

10/15 Warm-Up

Read Chapter 2  of the Remick/Cook book and create a new blog posting on what qualities you have that may indicate you’d be a good engineer. Be specific and use full sentences.

10/9 Warm Up

Read Chapter 1 of this book (its short) and write a posting on your wordpress blog that explains the following:

  • What was the chapter about? Write a 2 – 3 sentence summary.
  • Of the 21 things you might wonder about engineering, what are 4 of the things that you found interesting and why?

Software Install Woes

Okay… as was with last year, this is not going to be easy! I’m going to need someone’s laptop to test another install at the beginning of class. The installs we did last class period did not work. If I am able to successfully install on someone else’s computer, then we’re going to try re-installing on Thursday. At any rate, we won’t be working on labs this week.

Copy and past the following questions into a new wordpress blog posting and answer each question. 

Browse the UTA College of Engineering web-site.

  • Identify two different engineering programs that you might be interested in and explain what this type of engineer does.

Visit UTA’s website: Information for Prospective Students.

  • What is the general application deadline for the Fall Semester? Month/Day
  • When are the Preview Days at UTA? List all the dates.
  • Can you attend UTA if you haven’t graduated from High School?
  • When can you begin applying for the Fall 2008 (next year) semester? (month/year)
  • Where do you go to apply to all Texas State Colleges? (i.e. what web-site)
